The China Pharmaceutical University key laboratory of drug metabolism & pharmacokinetics was established on the basis of the key laboratory of pharmacokinetics and biopharmaceutics of State Drug Administration. The laboratory was appointed as one of the nine research units for the pharmacokinetics and human bioavailability study by State Ministry of Health in 1992 and was authorized as the key laboratory of pharmacokinetics and biopharmaceutics by State Drug Administration in 1993. The key laboratory and the Nanjing First Hospital were authorized together as the State clinic research base in 2001. In 2001, Jiangsu Education Department, Science &Technology Department and China Pharmaceutical University have invested together RMB £¤10,350,000 into the key laboratory to establish Jiangsu Pharmacokinetic Screening Center. As the leading unit, the key laboratory took on the State 863 project ¡°The study of key technology and platform for preclinical pharmacokinetics¡±.
The key laboratory covers an area of 1,300 sq meters and possesses a series of functional Lab related to the study of pharmacokinetics. The key laboratory is the first unit which is qualified to award the Doctor degree of pharmacokinetics. There are over forty full-time and part-time faculties in the Lab, including five professors and eight associate professors. All senior researchers hold doctor degrees and some of them act as the members of editorial board of related academic publications or hold a leading position in domestic and oversea academic organizations.
The key lab is mainly engaged in the studies of application and theories of pharmacokinetics and
integrate new drug studies with pharmaceutical industries. The key Lab possesses advanced equipments and has become an important part of the new drug development system of China . It is also the major base for training qualified scientists and technicians. We wholeheartedly hope to cooperate with both domestic and oversea pharmaceutical institution in related fields.
Up to now we have completed the investigation work of pharmacokinetics and bioequivalent evaluation for hundreds of new drugs , including Guan-Fu Base A£¬86017£¬DDPH, etal. We also help government and industries to establish related pharmacokinetic GLP and GMP rules. At present the key Lab take on a lot of State and provincial projects as well as applied projects for pharmaceutical companies.
The key Lab has deveploped a series of in vitro and in vivo model that can be used to investigate drugs' ADME processes, such as Caco-2 cell model, intestinal loop model, human liver microsomes P450 model, BCECs model, etal.
Some initiating studies in the pharmacokinetics of traditional Chinese herbs have been done in our Lab. The key Lab also makes some gains in the studies of combined pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic model as well as physiological based pharmacokinetic model.
.In recent years about 250 papers were published in both domestic and over sea academic publications. At present the research work of our Lab is in a leading position in China. A Bioavailability Program Package which is used to deal with the data of bioequivalent evaluation has been developed and approved by the experts of Jiangsu Department of Science & Technology.
